Now that you know smoking can kill your pets, would you quit?
Here are some fun ways to make going cold turkey a little more bearable:
1. Make your dog your exercise buddy.

Run with your dog
Exercise is a great way to quit smoking – it keeps you busy, relieves stress, lessens depression, and makes you want to stay on the healthy track. What’s more is that dogs absolutely love to walk! Taking your dog out for walks or jogs will make both of you very happy and healthy. It’s not easy quitting smoking, but when you’re doing it for someone that you love, such as your dog, it can be very rewarding and worthwhile.
2. Make your dog an anti-smoking campaigner by buying him No Smoking t-shirts.

This website came up with a funky way of reminding smokers to quit smoking: By getting your dog a T-shirt that will remind you of your goal every time you see him in it. When your dog is wearing clothing that implores you to quit smoking, you’ll find it harder to reach for a cancer stick. Start your shirt-shopping spree here or here.
3. Train your dog to be a smoke alarm.
Doggie smoke alarms can be very effective. Follow the guidelines on this website to find out how you can teach your dog how to bark at the first sign of smoke.
4. Save money from buying cigarettes and spend it on a vacation for yourself and your dog.
If you smoke a pack a day, you’ll save nearly $5,500 per year if you quit! You could go on a road trip with your pooch – you both deserve it! Or buy yourselves something you’ve each always wanted. To calculate how much you’ll save annually based on your smoking habits and cigarette brand, check out this calculator from smokefree.gov.
5. If all else fails, let Hypno-Dog Dave hypnotise you into quitting. And if that doesn’t work, well, at least it made you laugh (and you can’t smoke while laughing!)
