Here are some tips to prevent your beloved companion animals from suffering from smoking-related diseases:

1. Prevention is infinitely better than cure, so the best thing to do is to quit smoking.
2. However if you must smoke, smoke out of your home. Minimise exposure of second-hand smoke to your family and pets.
3. Do not allow others to smoke in your home or around your family and pets.
4. If you smoke at home, keep your ash trays clean and free from cigarette butts. If you smoke outside, dispose of cigarette butts properly to prevent dogs from accidentally ingesting them.
5. Dispose of nicotine gum and patches in receptacles that are inaccessible to pets.
